1. Application

Carbon and graphite materials and their combinations with metals are the only known materials suitable for production of brushes, contacts and shoes for electrical machinery. It is caused mainly by their very good thermal and electrical conductivity, low friction coefficient, and greasiness in changing weather conditions.

2. Production process

Metallographite materials are produced based on high-quality natural graphite and metal powders such as copper, tin, lead, silver, etc. The combination of excellent electrical and thermal conductivity of metals with the high lubricity of natural graphite allows for the creation of materials capable of carrying high current loads exceeding 25 A/cm2, with low contact resistance between the brush and the commutator/ring and a friction coefficient below 0.2.

The production process consists of the following stages:

  • Screening of bulk raw materials

  • Mixing of raw materials

  • Screening of the mixture

  • Block pressing

  • Firing
